    Hello, I was just wondering, I make video’s for YouTube. I’ve seen allot of camera’s and have I keep coming back to this, I was really wondering If I got the video camera and uploaded them onto the PC, Is it possible to edit them straight away in Windows movie maker or do you have to ‘Convert’ them to something else?

    can it mount on to a tripod?

  3. oddstuff123 says:

    @nmgh101 depends on what you are looking for this is less portable but has better quality so it really depends on the uses

    Great review. This is a big help to mo.

    I’m planning to buy my first camcorder. I was thinking of the canon fs200 or the Canon hf r100…(that’s how far by budget can go) this review helped but I would appreciate if you could also say something about the r100. Do you think the r100 is good cam. I saw some reviews and they say it’s not that good for its price. Thanks.

    .MOD files can be watch directly on a newer computer running windows 7 with co conversion required. How do I know this? I tried it.

  6. LaHoraMusical says:

    Thank you. Is awesome what you do! Great video. Thanks,

    @199FOE thanks.. il check it out.. but other than this one any other suggestions?

  8. 199FOE says:

    @gayatri86 its not bad, its the one I started out using before moving to the HD cam he also using in this video. The only problem is poor quality in low light situations, that can get frustrating.

  9. gayatri86 says:

    is this a good option for amature film makers? if not then which one.. i want something affordable.

    @kalpata With regards to converting the MOD file, try this:

    Go to the MOD file and change the name as follows:
    1. Right click on the file;
    2. Click Rename;
    3. Change the MOD to MPG

    You will now have a file you can double click on and it will play in Windows Media Player, etc.

    Great video! I have the same camera and am trying to burn a DVD. I have downloaded all the video scenes to my computer. In the process, a pop-up asked if I wanted to combine scenes (I clicked yes). I made several albums of which I wanted to make DVDs. I placed a new DVD in the drive to burn, but got error message saying I needed to combine scenes. Can’t figure out what to do! Any suggestions? SkatenBren

  12. kalpata says:

    What program du you recomend to convert mod file with?
    Is there any freeware on the web that bring the 16:9 format?

    I was trying my best to see the difference in video quality when you changed camcorders, I admit I could see virtually none. To get the external mic and sound monitoring jacks on a camcorder this one is worth the money. Thanks for the no nonsense review of the product.

    This guy does the best reviews on everything.

  15. paradoxdesigns says:

    @nmgh101 FS300, cheaper price. has triple image stabilization over the FS200′s 2x. the only drawback is the 300 has no mic or headphone jack. but for a camera of this type who needs those anyways? the mic is great.

  16. stillirise says:

    Thank you for this straightforward, no-nonsense review. I like the fact that you know what you are talking about and even someone with no experience with these camcorders understands your review. I am looking into getting this or the Vixia HF S100 and your reviews have helped a lot. Thanks again.

  17. LauxHawk says:

    By the way, how do you get it to save 16:9 default.

  18. LauxHawk says:

    @JellieBeanGurus It’s technically mpeg. It saves as a .mod file with is essentially .mpg. It works fine in just about any media player without conversion and it should work in vegas fine contrary to wmacphail said.
